George C. Marshall High School Orchestras
The George C. Marshall High School Orchestra, based in Falls Church, Virginia (Fairfax County) is a thriving program of nearly 140 students in grades 9 through 12. These talented musicians play bowed string instruments including violin, viola, cello, and string bass. Renowned for its tradition of excellence, the GCM Orchestras consistently earn top ratings at the VBODA Performance Assessment and have showcased their talents in cities such as Orlando, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, and Nashville.
The vision of the GCM Orchestra program is to provide a high-quality musical experience that is both challenging and inspiring for its student musicians. Through a focus on individual and ensemble skills, students develop their musicianship and technique while exploring and performing a wide range of musical styles. The program cultivates a collaborative, supportive, and enjoyable environment, allowing students to be part of something greater than themselves.
Under the direction of Catherine Bond, the GCM Orchestra program strives to deliver performances that are both aesthetically fulfilling and deeply inspiring. Its mission is to cultivate lifelong supporters and advocates of the arts, both among its members and within its audience.
